![]() The Event Horizon Telescope April 2017 observing campaign comprised eight telescopes in six geographic locations. This technology requires synchronization, phase stability and phase coherence between different. The Event Horizon Telescope creates the image of a black hole shadow thanks to the precise coordination of a worldwide telescope network. GLT Director, Paul Ho (Academica Sinica, Taiwan), visited the Danish GLT team at UCL/DTU Space (Thomas Greve) and NBI (Marianne Vestergaard and Jes Jørgensen) to discuss the strategy for Danish involvement in the GLT. The latest results from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration were published on Mar 24th 2021. The EHT is a virtual observatory consisting of telescopes spanning the planet, from Greenland to the South Pole. ![]() The meeting was attended by scientists from DTU Space and NBI, as well as ASIAA. Scientists have obtained the first image of a black hole, using Event Horizon Telescope observations of the center of the galaxy M87. At the meeting, talks were given by Satoki Matsushita (GLT Project Scientist, ASIAA), Johannes Staguhn (NASA Goddard), and Jørgen Peder Steffensen ( Ice & Climate, NBI). A one-day meeting was held at the Cosmic Dawn Center in Copenhagen to discuss the current status regarding the Danish involvement in the GLT and efforts to bring the GISMO 2mm camera to the GLT. The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has produced images of the plasma flow around the supermassive black holes in Sgr A and M87 with a resolution comparable. ![]()
